Not just male supermodels!

Some people think I spend all my time photographing male supermodels, well the truth is its just some of the time....

I am very fortunate as I get to meet a variety of interesting and inspiring people through my work. I basically just love photographing people particularly in new situations. Cityown Hydraulics company was one of those. A family run business for over 20 years specialising in  bespoke hydraulic solutions across a variety of industries, including luxury yachts, marine offshore, industrial, safety and specialist hydraulic systems for movies. Wow, so with a bit of super model training we got some great shots. Images I think that show the craftsmanship and the beauty, of what they do.

Cats and knives on the backstreets of Luxor

If you have a Delicate Stomach you may wish to turn away

Sometimes it seems the more I travel the less robust my stomach gets, mind you I think I just need to toughen up the locals seem fine with it.

I find myself captivated when photographing people going about their daily lives. I get to see something that seems ordinary to them, commonplace even and have the opportunity to elevate it to become extraordinary. Noticing the colours, the lines, the background, the repetition, the juxtaposition, the glimpses the glances, the handholding the chances. Connecting, smiling back, touching and sometimes just grabbing my shots, I hope I connect you to.

Dinner in Egypt

On a recent trip to Egypt we had built a relationship with our taxi driver and I asked him to take us out in Luxor where the locals shop. So very early one morning we walked through the market for an hour or so, capturing the life of Real Luxor. Here's a little insight into how your dinner maybe prepared when in Egypt.

Relishing a challenge

It's a real challenge  shooting images to depict the ethos and values of schools and colleges in an original way, but a challenge I relish.

The images can be used in a future prospectus, newsletters, or upscaled into stunning wall art. This kind of project can be translated into any kind of business, but if you’re a head teacher for example, and you want to show your school in a different light, please contact me for rates and availability.

Selling milk by the death yurt.

Selling milk by the death yurt.

8 maids a-milking

When I was working on a documentary photo shoot in Kyrgyzstan a few years ago, I stayed in a remote village of Balichi where the inhabitants had never seen westerners before. I stayed with a large family who gave up their bed for us and gave us biscuits, cold fried onions, potatoes, sugar and sweets for breakfast, real luxuries for them. One night I was woken up by high pitched wailing, and when I got up in the morning I was shocked to see that the villagers had put up a yurt in the middle of a clearing throughout the night. The noise had been coming from the yurt, as the body had been laid in there and it had became the hub of the community. Life went on like this for several days as these ladies sat outside and calmly sold their milk in the midst of all the distress.

See more of my documentary photography here. If you have a project coming up, and you need an experienced documentary photographer as part of your team, please contact me for rates and availability.

Serene on top, paddling beneath

and on the 7th day of Christmas...

7 swans a-swimming

Backstage at a fashion show is a mass of frenzied activity - for each serene swan there’s a whole team of people paddling frantically, working towards the same goal: effortless beauty.
